Use of Icetool is not allowed in mainframe programming?

Hi,

In my company Use of Icetool is not allowed in mainframe programming? I mean it's not like everyone is denying it though it's kind of discouraged. Could anyone please tell me why is the use of Icetool discouraged in mainframe programming?

We are on enterprise cobol 4.2 and in the manual for it i dont see XML GENERATION with VALIDATION...what should i guess now?

XML format errors ( E.G unbalanced tags ) or application logic error ( EG. missing <tag>data</tag> ) They have both kinds of errors. why not reach an agreement with the provider of the data and FORCE them to provide good data ??? in the IT data chain ( or in any product ...
