Re: Channels and containers in CICS.
They won't respond to us working from offshore. We should know it our own. But I actually want to learn it as well. So what is that I can do to learn it well?

Channels and containers in CICS.
Hi,
I was reading about Channels and containers in CICS. And would like to experiment about it. Is there a way I can learn them by experimenting on my current shop so that later I can use them in my programming. Please guide me.

Re: Identify the CICS transaction for CISM.
I was asking about CSMI. Can it be corrected? We are doing a testing and there are so many interfacing system which calls CICS programs using different interfaces. Now if interface1 needs to be tested but as it's a test region and interface2 makes the call to same CICS transaction using CSMI, we jus...

Re: Moderator's Interview Series: Robert Sample.
I've mostly worked on mainframes (IBM and Amdahl both), but I have used DEC PDP 7, HP 3000, HP 2000, and Motorola Four Phase minicomputers at various times. I've always managed to adjust as I see a computer as a computer as a computer. I have mostly worked on IBM mainframe computers and heard about...

Identify the CICS transaction for CISM.
Hi, How do we identify a CICS transaction for a CISM transaction? In one of the CICS regions we see a lot of transaction are calling a module say PGM1, now this program is being called by CISM. That mirror transaction can come from anywhere like mainframe, EAI or some other application, so how would...

We had to request to change the size in TIOT table and Support team has done it. We had some space available there. Thanks all for your ehlp.

Help in estimation of mainframe requirements.
Hello, We have a spread sheet using which we do the estimation for the requirements. This sheet has got complexity definition such as 'High' for 'New Database', 'Medium' for 'New Column' and so and so forth. Is there some complexity guidelines defined by companies like IBM which can help to derive t...

Does the TIOT look for the size of the datasets too? I ask this because when I tested it in test I have tested it with empty GDG generations while in production it had data. Please suggest.

Re: IEF240I - TASK I/O TABLE EXCEEDS TIOT LIMIT OF 0032K.
Was your test environment an EXACT copy of production -- same number of generations in each GDG? If not, then your test was not a full test and hence you got different results in production and test. I can not say for sure that test and production are exact copy but I have created the same number o...

Re: IEF240I - TASK I/O TABLE EXCEEDS TIOT LIMIT OF 0032K.
Note that the interpreter will internally generate one DD statement for each generation data set, which may be why it worked in test but not in production. So are you saying that even if we change the JOB to have multiple steps, it will still be same for the interpreter? What is interpreter, actual...

IDCAMS works too but this JCL had been working in production for very long. It's because of the one additional GDG. So even with IDCAMS TIOT problem will remain?enrico-sorichetti wrote: ↑Mon Nov 13, 2017 11:45 amI do not remember if an IDCAMS delete will allocate the datasets, but it is worth a try

So if I make multiple steps deleting the versions of the GDG it will work? In test we did not get this error so not sure how do I test it?Robert Sample wrote: ↑Sun Nov 12, 2017 8:15 pmyou MUST reduce the number of DD statements, or split the step into multiple steps, or split the job into multiple jobs.
