Re: format the input file if values are not given properly?
What do you mean by 'format'? What do you mean by 'file' (mainframes generally store data in data sets)? What values?

By browsing you can still cut and paste data which can thn be transported elsewhere by someone wanting to steal information.

Re: Replacing IEBGENER with ICEGENER.
Your post does not make sense. 'Suncsort'? 'SyncGNER'? ICEGENER is part of the DFSort suite not SyncSort. Whereas there may be aliases set up for one to refer to other this does not always happen. Note that IEBGENER is not part of the DFSort suite. And why would you expect SyncSort to be called inst...

Re: SORT help required.
Basic really: your data is A, B, C, D in cc 1 but you are specifying 0001 in cc 1-4. There is no record with 0001 in cols 1 to 4 so no records are selected.

Re: extract the list of abended jobs from scheduler.
Ask your schedulers. There is probably something there already.
Also, do you want a list of jobs that are currently on the error handler or fo you want a list of all jobs ever - or, at least, from a certain date or within a certain time period?

Why not consult with them directly? They should be only too eager to help you reduce resources needed and the sooner you consult with them the sooner everyone concerned can benefit from any savings.

Re: Send attachement in email using CICS.
A valid JCL is going to have more than one record. For example, it will contain at least a jobcard (probably spanning more than one record) and an exec statement (possibly spanning more than one record) and, possibly, a variety of DD statements (each probably spanning several records).

Re: SORT help required.
As you posted in the sort section of the forum then sort help is inferred so your topic title is meaningless especially to people trying to find a solution. I presume you mean 'DATA SET' and not 'file', the latter being, prinicipally a PC/Unix term and a file is not the same as a 'data set'. You wen...

Re: How to know the IP address of the mainframes?
You want to avoid redundant, i.e. no longer wanted, items. But in this case redundancy means' reserve' - if the prime fails then the backup/reserve takes over.

Could someone please guide me what needs to be done No because you have not specified what you have done or what the error(s) happened. We can only guess but I am sure that you are not the first in your organisation to transfer a data set from the mainframe to a PC file. Find someone who has done i...

What space? You do not have a space problem. You have not, obviously, read the entry for S106 in the System Codes manual.

Then you (the company) needs to change its way of working. At the moment you are a catastrophe waiting to happen. If you have clients then they would be wise to move elsewhere.

This is not your thread so do not ask questions that are not related to resolving the issue. And your question has been answered before. So what area should a senior mainframe programmer look for opportunities?
