Is "-" allowed in DSN name?

Post by Shriram »

Hi,

Is "-" allowed in DSN name? I never used it and thought it was the rule not to use it but I have located a file with name like this:

Code: Select all

A.ABC.DEF340A.DE-ONLY
How come dash is allowed?

Yes, "-" is allowed in the dataset names in mainframes. But I have not seen it too many times.

"-" is allowed. It is usable when you want to have same file name for different countries and uses the country name after the "-".

When I tell somebody to RTFM or STFW I usually have the page open in another tab/window of my browser,
so that I am sure that the information requested can be reached with a very small effort 8-)
