Hello from Boston!

Post by DaveV »

Hi all, new here. I first touched a Mainframe in 1979 at my 2 year Data Processing school. Been around them off and on ever since.I am a veteran application COBOL programmer. After some years working off mainframes, I have been reinvented as a System Z storage administrator. The guy who I worked under has retired, and he didn't share much so I have to "reverse-engineer" everything when I have to make changes. I have been teaching myself DFSMS, but we also use FDR, CA-DISK, have an Oracle VSM5(Virtual Tape system) as well as an SL8500 tape library. I am wondering which forum is most appropriate for DASD/SMS topics/discusssions. Looking forward to knowledge sharing! :)

SMS & VSAM or Mainframe Performance topics would both be okay for storage topics.
