Duties and Responsibilities:

The DRO Engineer is the Primary contact point for Digital infrastructure service and support activities. The function provides 24 x7 coverage.

Attendance on technical bridges with technology teams to drive triage and resolution of incidents.

Resolving high priority incident tickets, with potential customer impacts.

Environmental oversight and root cause analysis for stability and reliability issues and timely resolution or escalation

Install IBM DB2 software.Setting up a HADR environment with nCreate practice and maintain standard installation and setup procedures for database servers.Maintain and facilitate standard backup procedures, retention plans, and restore testing.Assist with data migration between systems including regular data refreshes and making production data anonymous for use in testing environmentsPlan and perform scheduled hygiene and maintenance of the infrastructure.Deliver Service Improvement Activities across the Digital infrastructure through automation and analytics.Ensure environmental testing and High Availability/Sustained Resiliency tests are completed successfully.Work pro-actively to gauge the performance of the application & database and provide recommendations to achieve the optimal architectureAssess impact on performance with different changes and review scalability of the infrastructure.Maintain standard procedural documentation related to all aspects of operating the database platforms.Participate in incident resolution as an escalation point for database incidents.Document known errors or workarounds in the shared Knowledge Base.Consult with vendors & other teams to recommend best practices and tune software during the development cycle.Recommend and maintain standards for monitoring and event management to be used in production databases.Assist in tuning SQL in stored procedures.Perform testing and production builds involving data changes and stored procedure building while following established change management proceduresAssume all DBA duties in testing and development environments, maintaining design and data consistency throughout

 

Skills Required:

Computer Science degree or equivalent experience.Proven 5+ years of DB2 Database Administration experience out of which minimum 3+ should be on DB2 9.x versions.Must know AIX versions 6.x and 7.x and specifics of DB2 operations on AIXHistory of managing multiple RDBMS in large environments in AIX environments. Any experience in Solaris environments will be a plus.Experience with redundancy and resiliency applied to create a high availability service(HADR).Practical experience in monitoring and tuning a database.Experience in working in a 24X7 environments and on-call support (preferably in financial services).Experience on Q-replication is desirable, but not required.Documents small-to medium-scale projects and delivers presentations with minimal supervisionStrong interpersonal skills.
