Help in estimation of mainframe requirements.

Post by Akshypal »

Hello,

We have a spread sheet using which we do the estimation for the requirements. This sheet has got complexity definition such as 'High' for 'New Database', 'Medium' for 'New Column' and so and so forth. Is there some complexity guidelines defined by companies like IBM which can help to derive the sheet more better?

Or how are you doing it, can you please help in knowing that?

There are no definitive guidelines for such estimation, as far as I know. The existing guidelines that you are using are a combination of personal experience on the part of whoever created the guidelines, along with some rough rules of scale.

May be you'd like to search for FP (Function Point) estimation and/or Complexity point estimation and re-read what Robert has said...
Thanks,
Anuj

Estimations are tough to do and there is no ready made tool to do it. But as you said if you experienced in the company you work for it becomes easy for you.
