Easytrieve to COBOL program conversion.

Post by Abhishek Awasthi »

Hi,

We have some programs which we had been using for years to fix some of the production abends. These programs are in easytrive. It's been announced that easytrieve will be decommissioned soon. Could someone please guide a quick way to convert these easytrieve programs to COBOL Programs.

Hire someone to convert them. Easytrieve to COBOL is not a simple conversion, and depending upon the Easytrieve code could become quite involved.

Thanks for the reply.

I am not in to hiring team nor I can take that decision though I understand what you mean.

I have searched on google to and there are mention about utilities, I thought if there could have been some easier way to do this. Thanks for your response.

This is not different than any other conversion from one language to other. Though it becomes easy as both the languages are for mainframe. Google is your friend: see if this helps.
Thanks,
Anuj

You should check out MANASYS Jazz https://jazzsoftware.co.nz/

MANASYS Jazz is attracting a lot of interest as a tool for converting Easytrieve to COBOL, and also a replacement for EZT. This Video https://www.jazzsoftware.co.nz/Videos/E ... Rieve.html will give you a quick overview (about 6-7 minutes).

These Help pages give more information: -
1. https://www.jazzsoftware.co.nz/Docs/Fea ... trieve.htm General overview and introduction
2. https://www.jazzsoftware.co.nz/Docs/JazzUGEZTData.htm Converting EZT Data in detail
3. https://www.jazzsoftware.co.nz/Docs/JazzUGEZTLogic.htm Converting EZT Logic in detail

Please contact me (robert@JazzSoftware.co.nz) if this interests you.

Best wishes, Robert Barnes.
