Does blind work on mainframes?

Post by Om Prakash »

Hi,

The question is sensitive to me and I ask it here. Does blind work on mainframes? Or are there some arrangements which can be made them to learn mainframes? Please share your piece of thought.

what makes You think that learning IT activities on mainframes

programming
DATABASE related
administration
security
debugging
analisys
...

should be different from learning the same on any other platform ?
the technicalities might be different, but the overall approach will be similar
cheers

When I tell somebody to RTFM or STFW I usually have the page open in another tab/window of my browser,
so that I am sure that the information requested can be reached with a very small effort 8-)

I've worked for companies where blind people were doing mainframe programming -- in COBOL even.  There's not really anything special about the mainframe in this regard -- in fact, the use of 3270 green screens might even make it simpler than a GUI-based programming language.

Thanks. I have one of my known who has shown his ambition to work on mainframes. But he is blind. I am not aware of anyone in this and working with mainframes or computers.

I shall search to see what can be the additional requirements for such a programmer.
