Hi,

Is "-" allowed in DSN name? I never used it and thought it was the rule not to use it but I have located a file with name like this:

Code: Select all

A.ABC.DEF340A.DE-ONLY
How come dash is allowed?

but you could have done it yourself. The manual, not a forum or anything else, is the fount of all knowledge regarding IT subjects.

Yes, "-" is allowed in the dataset names in mainframes. But I have not seen it too many times.

"-" is allowed. It is usable when you want to have same file name for different countries and uses the country name after the "-".
