What are CICS web services?
Hi, I have a very basic question on CICS web-services, what are CICS Web Services? What is that thing which we could not do if they were not available to us? I looked at documentation but that does not seem to answer this question specifically or I seem not to understand this. Would appreciate if yo...

Thanks zum13 for the great explanation, this helps a lot. I have a question on CICS web-services also, but I think I should create a new thread for it.

Re: SSH to mainframe from personal laptop.
Thanks Anuj and Robert. That project was scrapped though we started working on it again.
SSH didn't work. Our mainframe sandbox is ZD&T. Will that make a difference?

Re: copy data from vsam to ps
zum13Hello. There are other utilities available that are designed for the handling of VSAM files which are attached to larger products intended to make the files more usable and accessible from ISPF. Compuware's FileAid is a good example of this. While better known for the ISPF interface, it does c...

Robert Sample" wrote: ↑Tue Apr 23, 2024 8:19 pm Why on earth would you want to do this? IDCAMS is easy to use and efficient. You could write a program to do the copy, but you'd have to write a program for every single copy you want to do -- use IDCAMS.
I also had the same question, but in an interview anything can be asked.

Re: Check if the CICS region is down or up?
Thanks zum13. This is working, will do more test.
I asked one of my known, he said run any command of CICS in batch, capture the return code, if it fails, region is down, like you said.
Is it common to run CICS commands in batch? Even if not, how can we run a CICS command in batch?

Usually 2 to 3 weeks they take. You should write an email to the hiring HR, they should help you.

But this is very expensive specially when you earn in rupees. Not sure if we can ever create an environment for personal learning.
