DB2 batch SELECT taking too long

I have a situation in which A report SELECT keeps escalating CPU. How do you profile COBOL+DB2 queries—EXPLAIN, RUNSTATS, indexes—what’s your go‑to sequence? Thanks in advance for any pointers.
