Channels and containers in CICS.

Post by Akshypal »

Hi,

I was reading about Channels and containers in CICS. And would like to experiment about it. Is there a way I can learn them by experimenting on my current shop so that later I can use them in my programming. Please guide me.

Talk to your CICS support group about what needs to be implemented in a region to allow access to channels and containers.

They won't respond to us working from offshore. We should know it our own. But I actually want to learn it as well. So what is that I can do to learn it well?

When I tell somebody to RTFM or STFW I usually have the page open in another tab/window of my browser,
so that I am sure that the information requested can be reached with a very small effort 8-)

Thanks Enrico. I had it searched and thanks again for posting it but I am working at a company where I don't on CICS side. But if I want to learn this concept, how can I do that, that's what I was asking. Reading a document from IBM does not make it much understandable, at least for me.

if you do not have available a CICS environment that you can tweak for your needs
you can only learn what you can understand from the documentation ( the cics manuals for example )
but you cannot experiment

see here for an example
https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/txseries/8. ... -container
