Hi,
In SORT, are SORT FIELDS=COPY and OPTION COPY same? If yes, why they have created two options?

There is no difference between SORT FIELDS=COPY and OPTION COPY.

OK. Works now but... files should be data sets. Under zOS and its predecessors data is kept in data sets hence DSN= (or DSNAME=). And for a straight copy job IEBGENER or ICEGENER should be used. I believe DFSORT will invoke ICEGENER anyway for that sort of copy but why not give a little assist to the system and specify ICEGENER directly?
All off-topic!

Thanks. But what are you referring to?

Is there a reason to use IEBGENER?

Is there a reason not to use IEBGENER? ICEGENER has a performance advantage, so I understand, but that would probably only be apparent when dealing with very large amounts of data. But IEBGENER has been the principle copy program for sequential data sets around the world for 50 years.
