Hi,

I'm confused about the web-servicdes in mainframes, are the MQs in mainfames are euivalent to web-services or they are separate thing? Can we say that if a comapny is using mq-series, it is using web-services for mainframes?

And are middle ware and web-services are just same? Then what is middle ware? :?

There seem to be a lot of confusion - I'll try to get it away. "IBM WebSphere MQ" is a family of network communication software products, as the name says, by IBM. It was previously known as MQSeries. Later, this trademark was re-branded by IBM in 2002 and they joined the suite of WebSphere products.

WebSphere MQ is often referred to simply as "MQ" by users and that's why you hear about just "MQs" also. This is IBM's Message Oriented Middle-ware offering. It allows independent and potentially non-concurrent applications on a distributed system to communicate with each other.

Hope this helps.
