Re: DB2 data archival, Db2 data purge and retrieval question.
these kind of processes have been in place since the beginning of the IT era
why not ask inside Your organisation to find out about the standards being used ?
too many functions are involved for a solution based on forum replies

When I tell somebody to RTFM or STFW I usually have the page open in another tab/window of my browser,
so that I am sure that the information requested can be reached with a very small effort

Re: DB2 data archival, Db2 data purge and retrieval question.
The owner of the data should specify time-frames for archival and dispos\l. It is their data after all.

Re: DB2 data archival, Db2 data purge and retrieval question.
This is pretty broad question and can have a very long answer, which seems beyond the scope of the Forum. And as has been mentioned, such procedure should already be in practice at your shop. But if you are fairly new to this concept, suggest you do some reading using the below articles and you might get an initial understanding to proceed further with your original quest:
Archive-enabled tables and archive tables
5 Things to Know About DB2 for z/OS Archive Transparency
Hope this helps.
