Re: what are the virtual storage and the common storage?
Virtual storage is a term that came into being many years ago. Virtual storage allows a computer system to act as if it has more memory than physically exists by swapping pages (4K blocks of memory) out to disk when it is not needed, and bringing it back from disk when it is needed.
Common storage is generally considered the part of system memory used by z/OS for common functions -- things that all users need.
This is a technical forum for users of a very technical system. You are not going to get very far by wanting things put in layman's terms -- you need to start understanding the terminology used in z/OS.
