Hi,
I serached for assembler related stuff and most of it talk about High Level Assembly Language. Why they all pre adjective it with "High". Does conventional Assembly Language exist, so that some one can talk a difference "High" and "Low" Assembly language for mainframes ?
Thank you.

Re: HASM and ASM Language.
in most cases the naming of a product depends on the development history of the product itself and on ( sometimes ) marketing and sounding of the name consideration.
HLASM is an evolution of ASM so ... it came natural to call it that way ..
anyway asking this kind of questions on a forum is a waste of time for everybody because it leads to pure speculation.
somebody in IBM might still know the why

When I tell somebody to RTFM or STFW I usually have the page open in another tab/window of my browser,
so that I am sure that the information requested can be reached with a very small effort
