Hi,
Can a VSAM data set archive? And can we do it manually, could someone please let me know how? Any advice is appreciated.

Assuming you're talking about DFSMShsm migration, then yes VSAM data sets can migrate. Migrating a VSAM cluster is no different to migrating any other type of data-set. They can be migrated to Tape or DASD and frees up space within the primary DASD pool.

Assuming you are talking about HSM, you can use TSO command HMIGRATE to manually migrate a particular data set. If your site is set up for this, you can issue HMIGRATE on ISPF panel 3.4 as well.
