Problem to connect to 3590 Tape drive

Post by albert94 »

Hello All
I want to connect to a 3590 Tape System with a A60 controller !

How to Address Tape drive ? and How to connect System z to A60 controller ?
A60 controller Has FICON Attachment ! I connected FICON express 4x to FICON channel on A60 controller !

These are statements that related to 3590 Tape subsystem :

Code: Select all

CHPID PATH=(CSS(0),02),PARTITION=((LPARTEST),(=)),PCHID=150,  *
               TYPE=FC
CHPID PATH=(CSS(0),04),PARTITION=((LPARTEST),(=)),PCHID=151,  *
               TYPE=FC
CNTLUNIT CUNUMBR=0002,PATH=((CSS(0),02,04)),                              *
               UNITADD=((00,004)),UNIT=3590
IODEVICE ADDRESS=(200,004),CUNUMBR=(0002),STADET=Y,UNIT=3590
when i want load stand-alone tape for z/OS IPLing, I have received below hardware message :
(Control unit or device is busy or shared by another system )

While I have only connected only one LPAR to 3590 tape controll unit !

I Attach my 3590 tape subsystem with A60 contoller schema !

Albert

Albert - I personally don't have experience in this field. And a search over the internet too did not help much for this question. I'm trying to reach my contacts over LinkedIn and in office. If I could get something to offer, I'll post it back.
Thanks,
Anuj

Yes !!!!!!
Come off it - it was the weekend. Not many people bother checking out the boards on Saturday or Sunday and there are not many people with the experience you require and most of those are probably not members of any mainframe forum.

Also, try and reduce the use of exclamation points (!) - a simple full stop/period (.) will suffice.
