Check-out feature in SCLM Mainfarme

Hi All,
We are using Version Controller - SCLM in Mainframe. 
How do we do Checkout- Checkin process. Is it the Locks under SCLM Command?

Have you looked at Introduction to the SCLM Developer Toolkit ?  I found it by Googling sclm check out and clicking on the first link which was SCLM fundamentals for me.
