Mid-range is an almost obsolete term these days. It refers to computers that are smaller than mainframes but bigger than desktop computers. Samples of mid-range computers include IBM System/34, IBM System/36, IBM AS/400, Digital VAX, Motorola IV Phase, Hewlett Packard 3000, and so forth.
